Jumpers are a must-have item over the winter season, and although casual in nature, you can dress them up very easily at any time of the year.

Of course, you can wear jumpers in a variety of colours, but a white jumper has a slight advantage, because it will look incredibly chic and pair well with any colour. It will also work with a wide range of natural fabrics such as suede, fur, leather, felt, and denim.

The secret to picking the right jumper is ensuring you have the right shade of white for you. A soft white or ivory is the most flattering shade for most people, which makes it the safest choice. Cream works better for those with warmer colouring, and bright white works better for those with cooler colouring. Don’t own a white jumper? You can use an alternative top as long as it’s white!

The possibilities for creating white jumper outfits are limitless! If you’re stuck for new ways to style your jumpers, take a look at these outfits ideas:

1. With Mid-Rise or High-Waisted Jeans

Tucking your knitted sweater into a pair of mid-rise or high-waisted jeans is a must! Want to style this look up further? Go for blue on blue, with a white shirt under a sweater for a chic twist.

2. Under a Statement Coat

I know from having done hundreds of wardrobe declutters that most of us will own at least one statement coat or blazer – something colourful or patterned. Not sure how to style it? Throw it on with your white jumper plus a pair of jeans, boots and a pendant necklace, et voila… instant style!

3. Over a Knitted Dress

Who says you can’t work knitwear with more knitwear? If you have a knitted dress and are struggling for alternative ways to style it, try wearing it with a knitted jumper. This combination works the best if the dress is a bit more fitted. Alternatively, you can opt for the loose silhouette style, if you secure it with a belt.

4. With Leather

One of my favourite pieces to wear over winter is my tapered leather trousers. They are a great alternative to jeans and work for both rainy and dry days.

If you own a pair of leather trousers/leggings/skirt, it’s time to try it with your white jumper.

5. Under a Gilet

Gilets are still very much in this season, and what better way to layer up in cooler weather than with a gilet and sweater combination? I’m enjoying styling my longline puffer gilet (with a drawstring waist) with my white sweater, leggings and trainers for casual day to day wear.

6. With Bold trousers

Sometimes bolder colours can feel too overwhelming in an outfit. I love wearing bolder colours on my lower half, and then styling them with a white jumper to tone down the overall effect. Colourful tailored trousers are trending at the moment, so wearing them with a white jumper is an easy way to dress them down and create a more balanced outfit!

7. Over a Dressy Skirt

A knitted sweater often feels quite casual, so it can be used to balance the more preppy style of a dressy skirt. As white is neutral, it doesn’t really matter what colour or pattern the skirt is.

As always, I hope you find these useful!
